Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani has made two important announcements to ensure that the Antyodaya families of the state do not face any problem in getting foodgrains due to prolongation of lockdown in case of transmission of Corona virus Covid-12.
Vijaybhai has revealed that Kanidai Lakia, who receives foodgrains under the NFSA (National Food Security Act) in the state, has 2.50 lakh cardholder Akila families and 2.50 lakh non-NFSAs living below the poverty line. Wheat, rice, Akila sugar, chickpeas and salt will also be distributed free of cost to BPL card holders and 2.50 lakh ration card holders in May.
The distribution of these foodgrains will be started from next May 12 Kanidai Lakia from about 15,000 government approved cheap food shops in the state. The Chief Minister had earlier in April expressed his sympathy to distribute free wheat, rice, sugar, dal and salt to such ration card holders.
